FAQ related to HAI Thermostats and Cortexa Controllers. Both installation and operation information will be conveyed.
Q: What is the preferred method of connecting HAI Thermostats to a Cortexa?
A: Cortexa recommends directly connecting HAI thermostats via RS-232 connection to the Cortexa. Documentation on pin-outs for serial are available on the Cortexa Knowledge base.
HAI thermostats can also be integrated by connecting the thermostats to the HAI security panel, and connecting the HAI security panel to the Cortexa via serial connection.
Q: How do multiple HAI Thermostats get connected to the Cortexa?
A: Multiple thermostats get connected to the Cortexa in parallel and only a single serial connector is needed to connect the system of thermostats to the Cortexa. Each thermostat will need a unique address, and the address numbers must be consecutive (starting at 0).
Q: I am using an HAI Omnistat2 (RC-1000 or RC-2000), i have connected the thermostats to the Cortexa but I am experiencing issues. Help.
A: Provided the cable run is not too long and the cable is in good condition, the issues are likely:
- The Pin-out on the serial cable or Omnistat2 is incorrect. The back plate on the HAI thermostat references colors for direct connection to HAI security systems. Documentation on proper pin-outs and connection of the HAI Omnistat2's is available on the Cortexa Knowledge Base.
- On newer versions of the HAI Omnistat2's (Rev. 1.03C on RC-1000), a jumper pin (J8 - lower left side) was added. For proper connection to a third party controller, the jumper pin must be removed. (note: If the thermostats are connected to an HAI security panel, leave the jumper J8 in)
